Alright, alright.....

So I've been a little wrapped up in my little bubble lately but I AM working on my next Fantasy prom blog - and I've got some new couture pieces I want to share with you (selling at Shrimpton Couture ), along with a mini sailor inspired collection!  Alas, orders have to come first so I've fallen behind on my blogging.. sigh.    Oh! and our Montreal showroom is just about done - very exciting.. can't wait to share more details about that.  Here's a sneak peak at the aaaalmost ready showroom in the meantime!

In any case,  I wanted to do a quick little write-up to share some eco brands I discovered on Ecouterre.  These aren't only eco brands/companies but they also give back - and not just in a "we give .001% of our proceeds to a corporation that supports 'so and so' charity".  They really give back in a way that affects people - something to be admired and supported!

Straight from the horses mouth:

TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about. The TOMS One for One business model transforms our customers into benefactors, which allows us to grow a truly sustainable business rather than depending on fundraising for support."

Seriously - DO check out their website & blog.  If you're saving your pennies for some sweet kicks you should definitely consider purchasing from this company.  They even have vegan and "wedding" options!!  AND they have some really nice men's options which  is totally impressive.  Buying shoes and doing a good cause all at once is just a damn good idea.

Next up is FIGS - What they do, in their own words:

Make innovative ties and bow ties
for the modern man, while simultaneously
facilitating a child’s education.

With every tie purchase,
FIGS gives a uniform to a child in order
for them to attend school.

So there you have it - Need a tie for an upcoming summer wedding or you just want to look cool?  Take a gander at their website.  What they have to say about the founder:  "FIGS is the brainchild of entrepreneur Heather Hasson. During college she helped over 170 Vietnamese children attend school by providing uniforms with the proceeds from sales of designer handbags. This was her introduction into social entrepreneurship and she was hooked. She then worked with fashion companies such as Levis Strauss and Gucci and has since parlayed her love of fashion and helping others into her current venture - FIGS."

I just love these ties - and let me tell you from experience, making a tie is NOT easy!!  There is some crazy skills involved in making the perfect tie and theirs are hand tailored.  Not to mention the obvious - buying a school uniform for a child to go to school is a great thing.  Look smart - and do something smart!

Last but not least is FEED - I really can't say it any better than they do so here's their mission statement:

"FEED Projects goal is to reach hungry children through the sales of our FEED bags. FEED bags raise much-needed funds for WFP school-feeding operations and awareness of the problem of child hunger.

All FEED products are made as eco-friendly and fairly as possible. Our bags are produced with high-quality, 100% organic cotton and natural burlap. We work with only audited and certified fair labor facilities. It's important to us to visit the places our products are made AND the places our donations are going."

Take two minutes to check out their video and find out more about how it started, what the organization does, and how you make a difference by purchasing one of their bags.

One of these bags actually feeds one child in Africa a school lunch for an entire year through a donation to the World Food Program.  They are also now sending some of the funds to Haiti to support the program there.    It's really worth taking some time to check out their website & blog.  They've got other nifty bags  you need to check out as well.  Feed 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 - you decide!

I leave you on that note...   Spend your hard earned dollars wisely my friends!   Simone's Rose aspires to make a difference like these companies...  It'll take some time but I'll get there and  I'm going to start right now by purchasing one of those FEED bags (and/or maybe some vegan shoes)!!   Keep ya posted on that.. hee hee  xoxo Michelle

Oh - Please do share if you know of other companies that give back!  I'm sure we'd all love to hear about them and help spread the love.  Thanks!
